On November, within the project “Foreign Language Competence Development of TSU Students” an open lecture in English at the faculty of Radiophysicswasdelivered by Yury Andreev, Associate professor of University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics.
The lecture was devoted to Institute
of High Current Electronics of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences.
His lecture was originally prepared and presented for students of Xi’an
Jiaotong University, China. So, Yury told about this China University, Chinese
students and differences between Chinese and Russian students. Yury told about
the main research areas of IHCE, namely generation of high power voltage
(current) pulses; generation of high power electromagnetic radiation in X-ray,
UV, visible, microwave bands; surface modification by electron beams and other
scientific areas. The problem of controlled thermonuclear fusion was described
in details. The possible physical approaches of solving this problem and
participation of IHCE in the international projects were discussed. The
presentation included different photos and videos of scientific equipment.
The first-year students were impressed with the presentation and video used. Yury was very enthusiastic and friendly. The audience was involved and listened attentively. A lot of questions were asked at the end of the lecture.
The English language lecturers Olga V. Kharapudchenko and Elena A. Krasilova thank Jury Andreev for his contribution to the development of the English language environment at Radiophysics department.
