At the beginning of this academic year, Faculty of Journalism joined the project aimed at English-speaking environment formation at Tomsk State University. The first year students of this faculty passed the entry test and were divided into four groups according to their current level of English.
During their first year at university, the students will study general English and then, for three more years, they will continue with English for specific purposes which will eventually allow them to attend some of their major lectures delivered in English. In addition, the project will promote different kinds of events to be held for the students in English, namely, open lectures, workshops, round-tables, tutorials (involving native speakers), and students’ academic conferences.
