The open lecture at radiophysics department

28 April 2018

An Associate Professor of the Department of Quantum Electronics and Photonics

Kirill A. Lozovoy delivered an open lecture “low-dimensional structures in electronics & photonics” in English within the project “Foreign Language Competence Development of TSU Students” on April, 25.
Application of the low-dimensional structures in optoelectronics and photonics, industry, energy and medicine was discussed. For example the low-dimensional structures are used to create light-emitting devices (including organic light-emitting diodes, or OLEDs), lasers, various displays, including the flexible ones. The nanostructures find a wide application in modern photovoltaics. Solar cells and thermophotovoltaic generators are based on them. The reporter told about the basic technologies of manufacturing low-dimensional structures, such as molecular beam epitaxy, metalorganic chemical vapor deposition, nanolithography, etc.

The second-year students had a wonderful opportunity to learn more about nanotechnologies. We were impressed with the presentation and video used. Kirill was very enthusiastic and friendly. The audience was involved and listened attentively. A great number of questions were asked at the end of the lecture.

The English language lecturers Olga V. Kharapudchenko and Elena A. Krasilova thank Kirill Lozovoy for his contribution to the development of the English language environment at Radiophysics department.
