TSU and Indonesia will develop exchange and scientific programs

December 8, 2020, in the year of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia, TSU signed a memorandum with the Indonesian University of National Development “Veteran” Yogyakarta for mutually beneficial collaboration. Universities intend to develop programs of scientific and student exchange, joint research, and exchange of scientific publications.

The Veteran University of National Development is a patriotic institution of higher education, which is actively developing its educational base. The university has the Faculty of Mineral Technology, Industrial Engineering, Agriculture, Economics and Business and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the university conducts active scientific work and broadcasts its civic position.

- Indonesia and Russia have a long history of close ties. This year we are moving to the level of strategic partnership and are developing cooperation in many areas, including higher education, - said Aziz Nurvahyudi, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy, Deputy Head of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Indonesia in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in his opening remarks.

Representatives of the universities discussed the main areas of interaction, shared plans for a joint future, and consolidated their intentions in a memorandum. Both universities named the most interesting areas for collaboration: the exchange of teachers, staff, and students for research and training, the implementation of joint research projects, the exchange of information and scientific publications. But at the same time, both sides do not exclude the possibility of new ideas for mutually beneficial interaction.

- We already have experience working with Indonesian students. Now there are 59 of them studying with us, I hope their number will increase soon. And thanks to our collaboration, exchange of students and teachers, joint research and activities, we will be able not only to come to new scientific discoveries but also to get to know each other's rich cultures better, - added TSU Rector Eduard Galazhinsky.

Tomsk State University has long and fruitfully collaborated with Indonesian universities. Since 2014, joint summer and winter schools have been held annually for students of both countries, agreements have been concluded with the Udayana University, Padjadjaran University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, University of Pattimura, Pertamina University, and Gadjah Mada University.

For TSU, the new memorandum became the 288th agreement on international collaboration. In addition to Indonesia, the university's partners include universities in France, Germany, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Japan, Belgium, and other countries.
