Turah Parthayana, a YouTube blogger with 853,000 subscribers and a bachelor’s student at the TSU Institute of Economics and Management, has shot a short horror film about the evil spirit “Squery Penty”. The film has already gained more than 200,000 views.

Turah Parthayana came to Tomsk from Indonesia, where he has his YouTube channel since 2017. Among his subscribers are viewers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Colombia, and Brazil. Now the young director is studying at TSU and talks about the life of students in Russia. For example, he took a video tour of the TSU campus.

The main roles in the new film were played by Tomsk schoolchildren. In the story, the characters celebrate the arrival of a friend from Indonesia, and one of them, Masha, accidentally finds the book “Squery Penty”. From that moment on, their life begins to change.

- I came up with the legend of two enemy brothers in the Siberian forest. I tried to avoid any mythology so as not to offend someone, - said Tura Parthayana. - According to a legend invented in Siberia, there is a forest called Point 93 full of evil creatures who like to harm people. And the cottage where the heroes met is close to this place. In this forest is the devil Squidi, who settled there and loves to deceive people, but to defeat this devil, his brother Squery must spell Lock Squidi in the book.

According to Turah Parthayana, he chose the genre of the horror movie, because everyone from children to adults can play in them. He also wanted to try to take something special in Siberia, because the Russians do not believe in ghosts, and in Indonesia the opposite is true.

- This is my first experience managing the Russian guys in my project. As a result, there was a lot of communication and good ideas from the team, we all learned something and got a new experience. For example, we had a shooting in a cold forest at -11°C. And for the horror genre, the soundtrack is important. To choose the most creepy, I had to listen to a lot of tunes, - added Turah Parthayana.
