The five Hydrometeorology programs of the TSU Faculty of Geology and Geography have passed international professional and public accreditation. The programs are accredited for a maximum period of 6 years and are assigned a rating of 5 stars and the distinction “Excellent Quality.

Experts evaluated many parameters, including the availability of licenses for the programs, who of the employers was involved in their development and implementation, the qualifications of teachers, in which institutions students undergo practical training, the level of the technical base used, and others.

During the examination, experts were guided by the European standards ESG-ENQA to guarantee the quality of education and the requirements of professional standards and the labor market.

An external assessment confirmed the high level of training of hydrologists and meteorologists and the enormous market demand for specialists in this area both in the Siberian Federal District and far beyond its borders. The accredited programs meet all the requirements of the World Meteorological Organization (an intergovernmental agency of the United Nations), and two lecturers in the Department of Meteorology and Climatology have WMO personal certificates.

TSU is one of eight universities in Russia where specialists in hydrometeorology are trained. Education received at the university helps graduates to successfully pass rigorous selection into structures related to space and aviation and to master the most modern meteorological equipment and latest analysis methods.
