Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published its ranking of the best universities in Emerging Eastern Europe and Central Asia – the QS EECA University Rankings 2020. TSU has taken 8th place among the 350 strongest universities. The university improved its performance by criteria such as reputation among academic experts and employers, the number of scientific articles, including with the participation of international co-authors. In terms of the number of students per teacher and the number of teachers with a degree, the university received a maximum mark of 100 points. TSU had nearly the same result in the number of international students, where the university has taken 8th place.
This year the fifth edition of the QS EECA ranking was published and Tomsk State University showed excellent development dynamics: from 27th place in 2015, it entered the top ten among the 350 best universities in developing Europe and Central Asia in 2019, which includes countries such as Turkey, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Hungary, and others.
- The fact that TSU has not only improved its position but entered the 10 strongest universities in European and Asian countries, confirms the correctness of our chosen vector for the formation of the university’s ecosystem and for the export of educational technologies. Now these accents have formed the basis for a world-class research and educational center in the Tomsk Region, - said Eduard Galazhinsky. - The strongest position, the 1st place among Russian universities in the number of international students, is an indicator of high-quality education at Tomsk State University.
The published part of the ranking this year included 350 of the best universities in the region, 105 of them from Russia. In first place, as it was a year earlier, is Lomonosov Moscow State University. The experts rated universities by ten criteria. Academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, papers per faculty, international research network, web impact, staff with a PhD, citations per paper, international faculty, and international students were taken into account.
