In the international Subject RUR Rankings, TSU ranked the second among Russian universities in the Life Sciences and the third in Medical Sciences.
The RUR ranking is one of the 10 international rankings in which TSU participates and is guided in obtaining information on the university status in the international community. The growth of the TSU positions is promoted by the development of international relations of the university, joining the collaboration, and improving the quality of research.
In the Life Sciences TSU ranked the second among Russian universities, passing ahead only Moscow State University. Among the universities of the world, TSU ranks 136th (last year the university was in 180th place).
- The Biological Institute has many scientific schools that function from the foundation of the university. For five years, our publication activity in international citation databases has increased 10 times, and this is one of the main means of broadcasting our scientific results. The number of economic contracts with industrial partners has increased 7 times. But the main thing is the complete involvement of the whole team in the development program of TSU, and this gave such high results - commented Danil Vorobev, the director of the Biological Institute.
In Medical sciences TSU ranked third among the universities of the Russian Federation, the first two lines are MSU and RUDN. Among the universities of the world TSU takes the 250th position (last year it was 314th).
- This is the result of more than one day. In 2014, the Biomedicine area was identified as a priority at TSU, all resources were combined, and now it functions within the framework of StrAU Biomed. First, in the work of StrAU, the emphasis was placed on science, and then training was added here. As a result, the high results in the rankings, - commented Yury Kistenev, deputy director of the TSU for scientific work. - For comparison: until 2014 there were 5-6 scientific publications in this area, in 2017 there are already 125 articles only in journals Q1 and Q2.
The priority areas of StrAU Biomed include the ultra-early diagnosis of the main socially significant diseases, based on the integration of molecular and cell biology, nanomedicine, medical materials science, optical imaging, and bioinformatics, including machine learning.
In the World University Rankings – 2018 Tomsk State University ranks 240th and in the RUR Reputation Rankings is 2018 – 212th place.
The Round University Ranking (RUR) is an international university ranking published by the ranking agency RUR with Clarivate Analytics. The ranking assesses the activities of 1,030 leading universities from 85 countries of the world over 9 years (2010-2018) in 4 areas of universities' activities: quality of teaching, quality of research, level of internationalization, and level of financial sustainability. In addition to the overall ranking, the RUR includes 30 subject areas: the humanities, life sciences, medical sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, and technical sciences.
