The results of the QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe & Central Asia (QS EECA) 2017 have been released. Tomsk State University took 11th place in this ranking, improving its last year’s result by 9 positions.

The QS EECA ranking is based on the university’s scientific reputation and its reputation among employers. It takes into account the ratio of students to teachers and the share of international teachers, international students, and employees with a scientific degree. QS experts also assess the effectiveness of the university’s Internet sites and the number of published articles per teacher and of citations of scientific results.

- I would like to congratulate the whole staff of the University and all students on this achievement. This is the result of the strategy that has been realized at TSU for several years, -said Eduard Galazhinsky, TSU’s Rector. - International experts appreciated a huge number of changes: the creation of a new educational environment, innovative active projects, experiments with e-learning, and interdisciplinary educational programs with international partners. This all attracts new international students and provokes a positive response from companies, which is reflected in the ranking - our reputation among employers has grown significantly.

The Rector also noted that for TSU, the preservation of university traditions, an individual approach to learning, and the high role of scientific activity remain the fundamental point. At the same time, the University relies on complex interdisciplinary projects in which the university's life is refocused: It involves working with the university's reputation, increasing citations, increasing the number of publications in scientific journals, and entering international collaborations.

In the QS World University Rankings, Tomsk State University is 323rd place, and in the ranking of the QS BRICS countries it is 43rd. In addition, in the QS Ranking by Subject, the strong positions of TSU in such areas of knowledge as Art and Humanities (328th place) and Natural Sciences (group 401-450) were noted.
