TSU entered the top 3 universities in Russia in RUR 2016

Tomsk State University has strengthened its position in the Round University Ranking (RUR) and has entered the top 3 Russian universities in almost all subject areas.

The RUR assesses the activities of universities by 20 indicators and in 4 areas of activity: teaching, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability. Six subject areas are evaluated: humanities, life sciences, natural sciences, technical sciences, medical sciences, social sciences, and humanities.

700 universities from 74 countries entered RUR 2016. 23 of them are in Russia. Compared to last year, TSU significantly improved its position. Previously, it was ranked only in 4 subject areas, this year it entered into all 6, and in almost all, ranked second or third place among Russian universities.

TSU took second place in Russia in the rankings by subject area Life Sciences (190th in the world), Humanities (237th in the world), Engineering (267th in the world), Social Science (309th in the world). Tomsk State University ranked third among Russian universities in Natural Science (208thin the world). In Medical Science, TSU is in 388th place in the world.

- The upward movement of TSU in the subject rankings was generally provided by high positions in the University Teaching Rankings, where we occupy a place in the Diamond League (from the first to the 100th), - says Irina Zholobova, director of the TSU Information and Analytical Centre. - We have improved in all four indicators in Life Sciences, which advanced us by 86 positions compared to the previous year.

This year Tomsk State University has also demonstrated high growth in the ranking Times Higher Education, entering the group of 501-600, and in the QS World University Rankings, where it ranked 377th, rising by 104 positions.
