Students – Radiophysicists Attended the World Famous Laboratory

19 December 2018

Within the framework of the project “Foreign Language Competence Development of TSU Students”, the first-year students attended the Laboratory of Functional Electronics.

Traditionally, the excursion was organized by Master students. The guides were Anna Kurasova and Daniel Kobtsev. Anna and Daniel demonstrated the equipment for studying the properties of semiconductors. The guides told about the various developments, which have no analogues in the world. The head of the laboratory is an outstanding scientist, Professor Oleg Tolbanov. Under supervision of Oleg Petrovich, gallium arsenide detectors were created. Now they are used at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN (CERN), as well as in the leading scientific centers of the world. It was interesting for students to learn that the laboratory is the only university laboratory in Russia that sells its technologies abroad.
