For the first time, three faculty members of the Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University (Vietnam) have graduated with honors from the TSU master’s program Russian as a Foreign Language. They plan to continue their studies at the TSU’s graduate school. The results of their thesis research will help Vietnamese students learn Russian.

TSU began collaboration with Vietnam 6 years ago. A memorandum of understanding and an agreement on testing in Russian as a foreign language were signed with Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University: TSU staff conducts advanced training courses for teachers from Vietnam, students of the university come to TSU summer schools in Russian, and teachers study in master’s programs in philology.

- Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University is one of the best pedagogical universities in Vietnam, and Russian studies are fairly well represented: more than 500 students study there at the Faculty of the Russian Language,- said Svetlana Fashchanova, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philology for the Training of Foreign Citizens. - These Master’s students are the first TSU graduates from Ho Chi Minh City, and they defended at the highest level, which was noted by members of the State Examination Commission.

The works of graduates from Vietnam were devoted to the analysis of plant names in Russian proverbs, the study of the specifics of animal names in Russia, and blogs about Siberia, the texts of which can be used in teaching the Vietnamese the Russian language.

- Teachers of the TSU Faculty of Philology gave useful special knowledge and skills in Russian as a foreign language. I not only learned the methods of scientific research but also mastered the skills of organizing and conducting lesson sessions and preparing teaching materials, - said Chan Le Quan, a graduate of TSU, a teacher from Vietnam. - The knowledge gained will be useful to me in my future work in Ho Chi Minh, because I plan to go to back to Vietnam and teach Russian.
