Experts will discuss new materials, electronics, and energy

20 September 2017

On September 18, the International Forum on Problems of Electronics, Photonics, Radiophysics and Alternative Energy - Nano and Giga Forum NGC / CTRP 2017 was launched at TSU. It is being held in Russia for the third time: the first two were in Moscow, and now in 2017 scientists from 15 countries gathered at Tomsk State University.

- A scientific school for radio electronics has long existed at TSU, it is known in the international space in academic terms, industrial, and defense,-  Victor Dyomin, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. - An important role was played by interaction with the University of Arizona - thanks to Professor Anatoly Korkin, a whole team of scientists came from there. During the week there will be a lot of events at TSU: a conference, lectures, exhibitions, master classes, and schools.

This year, scientists will discuss the possibility of replacing silicon in semiconductors, the use of magnetic materials for the transmission and storage of information, the creation of devices for energy storage, and other relevant issues. The main topics will be alternative energy and new information on its sources and opportunities for its use.

- I have been collaborating with TSU since 2010, and now we are ripe for this large-scale event, said Anatoly Korkin, the organizer of the forum, professor at the University of Arizona. People from all over the world who work in photonics, radio electronics, and alternative energy gathered here. We have a very interdisciplinary team: these are physicists, chemists, and material scientists.

Within the framework of the forum there will be a conference Current Problems of Radiophysics, a school-seminar on programming micro-devices and computer architecture, lectures by international scientists, meetings on innovations in high technologies, programming on chips, computer architecture, and modeling of materials and devices.

- Our industrial partners and more than 50 international scientists are present here,- said Alexander Korotaev, the Dean of the Faculty of Radiophysics. - These are new acquaintances and projects, and new areas for collaboration.

On September 18, a traditional exhibition was opened in the Cultural Centre of TSU (3rd floor), where the University and its partners present their developments in radiophysics. It will be there until September 22. Admission is free.
